TOO SMART FOR THE WRONG ROOM?

Private editorial and cultural counsel for public-facing people, founders, and brands.

When every other option feels like expensive make-believe.

A stronger spine. Great shoes.

THE WORK

minor genius studio is the private editorial and cultural counsel arm of minor genius.

It works with founders, brands, and public-facing people who can feel the thing getting bigger and less distinct.

More people get involved. The signal starts leaving the body.

Most rooms reward professionalization. Few protect distinctiveness.

That gets expensive fast: bland positioning, safer decisions, weaker gravity, harder differentiation.

The work starts there: before the signal gets explained to death and the wrong version becomes permanent.

HOUSE RULES

The relationship is close-range and opinionated by design.

The counsel is backed by public reps: events, print, video magazines, clothing, artifacts, and live rooms where the same instincts are tested in public.

The jungle. Not the petting zoo.

You are probably here because growth goons, LinkedIn mystics, strategy decks, and agency babysitting have started feeling unserious.

You want someone outside the weather who can see what matters and change how the thing is understood, placed, and funded.

Engagements range from focused private reads to ongoing counsel for founders, brands, and high-stakes transitions.

THE ROOM

Small roster. Clean terms.

minor genius (link) already has its own weather: zines, video magazines, events, clothing, artifacts.

The job here is to help ambitious people and projects stay distinct and alive as pressure and visibility increase.

Twenty years inside media, fashion, publishing, hospitality, and music — close enough to see how money, attention, taste, and legitimacy actually move.

What I know did not come from decks or trend reports.

It came from years in dense, pressurized rooms with artists, operators, executives, public figures, and weirdos, noticing what compounds and what gets flattened.

That includes work with LCD Soundsystem, The Strokes, FADER, GQ, Pitchfork, the #menswear ecosystem, and Michael Imperioli.

Best fit: people already operating at meaningful stakes.

You don’t need “smarter.” You need: more legible, magnetic, differentiated, and alive.

Engagements typically begin at 15k.

If there’s a fit, we’ll know quickly.
